Daniel Kimerling
MANAGING PARTNER
Dan Kimerling excels at blending deep conviction with strategic capital. He drives Deciens’ vision forward, leading early-stage investments in companies reshaping financial services, like Chipper, SimplyWise, and Treasury Prime. A hands-on partner, Dan isn’t one to sit on the sidelines – he’s in the trenches with Deciens’ portfolio companies, providing guidance and expertise every step of the way.
Before Deciens, Dan co-founded Standard Treasury, an early pioneer in API-driven banking infrastructure. Backed by Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, and Index Ventures, the company earned recognition as one of American Banker’s "Ten Technology Companies to Watch" and SWIFT’s "Global Innovator of the Year" before its acquisition by Silicon Valley Bank (SVB). At SVB, Dan led API Banking, Open Platform, and Global Research. Earlier in his career he worked as an analyst at TechCrunch, helping launch their conference business.
Dan earned an A.B. and A.M. (both with honors) from the University of Chicago and studied mathematical (analytic) finance at the Booth School of Business for a year as a Booth Scholar. While at University of Chicago, he won multiple awards for leadership and writing, including the Howell Murray Alumni Association Award and the Margaret C. Annan Undergraduate Award in Writing.
Named to Forbes’ "30 Under 30," a Kauffman Fellow, and a member of the Milken Institute’s Young Leaders Circle, Dan also serves on the University of Chicago’s Polsky Council and is active in the Young Presidents’ Organization.
Dan calls Albuquerque home, where he lives with his wife and their two dogs – carving out time for reading, cooking, biking, and skiing between flights and the founder grind.
