Viral specializes in solving problems at the intersection of finance and technology, an area he has focused on both as an investor and as an operator.

Prior to joining Deciens, Viral focused on fintech/insurtech debt and equity investments at Group 1001, an insurance holding company with $55+ billion in assets under management. He also led strategic initiatives such as investing in emerging asset classes and innovating new products and business lines.

Before joining Group 1001, Viral was a co-founder of Better.com, where he held responsibilities overseeing finance, capital markets, and all financial products (mortgage, title insurance, and homeowners insurance). He helped take Better from an idea to a national leader in home finance, originating $30+ billion in mortgages for more than 100,000 customers during his tenure. In his last year at Better in 2020, the company earned approximately $875 million in revenue and $172 million in net income.

Viral started his career at Citi, where he traded structured credit and fixed-income derivatives. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Viral lives in New Jersey with his wife, son, and cat. He enjoys cooking, hiking, and skiing.
